The following is the winning entry in my little writing competition on Facebook on the subject of “Love.” The prize, “The Metaphysics” by Aristotle (trans. by John H. McMahon, 322 pages, 1991), goes to Katie. Here is Katie’s award-winning poem in its original format:
Real pain
I知 afraid he値l leave me
I知 afraid he値l break my heart
It would be so much worse this time
They always have good intentions at the startThe last one hurt my confidence
The one before took my pride
I always seem to lose something
The only girl was the one who liedI知 afraid he thinks its love
I知 afraid he値l change his mind
I would fall apart
As my ears go deaf and my eyes go blindHe doesn稚 see my fear
He doesn稚 know I choke
Every time he walks away from me
My world goes up in smokeHe never knew love before this
So how can he be sure?
That he won稚 let me go ever
That痴 real pain which has no cureI知 afraid I値l push him away
I知 afraid if I let him know
He値l get scared and run from me
And I知 afraid I値l let him go

Hi, I was just doing some geneology research. And found you through searching “akarsu” I was just wondering if this is a popular last name in Turkey? I have a great grandfather who immigrated to Turkey in the 1920’s from Greece, I was wondering if you have any connections like that? Please get back to me if you do… Thanks.
